When do most people decide to change their mattress and buy a new one?

The most common answer is actually during house moving, relocations or major renovations. It seems that only a minority do so otherwise, such as buying mattresses during cheap sales. However, if you often feel tired and lethargic in the morning, or you often toss around in the middle of the night, it is probably the bed telling you its time to change a new mattress. Foam material tend to lose their resilience and elasticity much faster than spring coils. We do recommend you buy the best mattress for health you can afford, even if this decision requires a more hefty initial investment. This is because the better mattress will provide better support for your body and spine for many years, and gives you more energy to handle work throughout the day. If you have bought a low quality mattress, you may be getting a poor sleep and it will start showing signs of damage such as bursted seams, uneven sagging etc. If you can feel lumps and bumps in your mattress when you move your palms across the mattress surface, thats a sign that some parts of the mattress have started to break down internally and these uneven lumps may cause discomfort during your sleep.

Before you start out to buy a cheap mattress with magnetic properties, do check several retailers for prices. It is not a very popular item stocked by home and bedding shops, so there is not much competition driving prices down. An important point to note is that if you have a pacemaker or other electronic implants, do not use a magnetic mattress or you may put your life at risk.

They in turn charge a very low commission on such wholesale items and pass most of the savings to the customers like you and me. Look out for such deals which comes up from time to time and you will be able to buy cheap mattresses at wholesale prices. We are talking about 50% off the usual price you find in normal bedding shops.

If you need to buy a cheap mattress, you can still buy a new factory sealed mattress at your affordable budget. There is no need to buy second hand refurnished mattresses from garage sales. It is very difficult to properly clean an used mattress, so it is an hygiene issue to sleep on a cheap used mattress. Imagine getting skin diseases or bed bugs from a second hand mattress. It is simply not worth it. On the other hand, you might be able to find cheap deals on new but damaged mattresses. Due to the their heavy weight and bulky sizes, many mattresses are commonly damaged during handling and transportation from the factory to the showrooms. Sometimes you can find bedding dealers selling off damaged mattresses, which may be up to 75$ off the usual price. Do try out the mattress before buying and ensure that the thickness and hardness/softness is suitable for you. If its only some minor scratches and not something serious such as spring coils poking out, just grab it and go!

Bulk volume discounts are also available for mattress purchases but it is not likely everyone can take advantage of such opportunities. However, if you know the purchasing managers of hotels and hostels very well, and they are in the midst of upgrading their old mattresses, you might be able to negotiate an addon deal and enjoy even greater discounts off your mattress purchase. Once again, do not think about buying the old used mattresses from the hotels.

When comparing the prices of mattresses from different bedding retailers, remember to ask whether the shipping is free or you must pay for additional service charges. If you drive a truck, you might even be able to ask for more discount since you can self deliver the mattress yourself. Sometimes a good deal on the mattress delivery can even out a slightly more expensive price tag on buying the cheap mattress you have in mind.

I'm Pete, again the author of this blog, if you bothered to read the little right hand column on the blog. Being single, I am currently happy with a cheap high density foam mattress made by a little manufacturer in my part of the world. That thing is only 3 inches thick but weighs around 22 lbs or so. Yes, I got in during the 50% sales, which happens every 3 or 4 months. I got it before my previous cheap mattress was due for recycling, because I do not want to sleep on the floor while waiting for the next incoming mattress sales.
